My Sunday Photo: Anything the boys can do …

Would Kara be any different if she was the youngest of three girls as opposed to having two older brothers?

It’s a question that continues to intrigue me, even though we can never know the answer for sure. Yes, she loves princess dresses and Tinkerbell movies and doing her own hair. And yet she’s also the only one of three children who can kick or throw a ball straight. She’s not afraid to get down and dirty. If there’s a tree to be climbed, she will go and climb it with just as much gusto as the boys.

We were out with friends last weekend. Kara was the only girl among five boys but you would never have known it. She was straight up into the trees, determined to climb as high as she possibly could. Anything the boys can do, she feels she can do.

You know what? She’s right. She can do anything she sets her mind to, never mind her gender or her age. And I adore her for that. I hope she never loses that attitude. That and her pout will take her a long way in life.
