My Sunday Photo: Birthday girl

Our little girl is not so little any more, as Kara turned four on Thursday.

We marked the milestone with my parents last weekend and the celebrations continued throughout the week. I spent most of the Bank Holiday Monday repainting Kara’s room pink – you may have seen the comical picture below of Isaac in his pants helping me out with a mini-roller.

On Wednesday evening, we assembled a small vanity table and chair for her room, for her to discover when she woke up on her birthday. Predictably, she loves brushing her hair in front of it and storing her already sizeable collection of trinkets in it.

But, of course, there were many other presents to open on the day itself, including a particularly bling pair of sparkly pink headphones which she adores.Kara headphones

I also wrote my now traditional annual birthday letter to her. Maybe one day she will get to read these.

And finally, yesterday was her birthday party – princess-themed, naturally – at a local leisure centre. (Relatively) cheap and cheerful, but you can’t really go wrong with bouncy castles and soft play when you’re catering for a four-year-old, can you?

In fact, it’s not been so much a birthday as one long birth-week celebration. It’s a hard life being four years old …
