Am I your BiBs Readers’ Choice?

The lines are closed, the votes have been counted and verified and I can now reveal that the tenth person to be evicted from the Big Brother house is …

No, hang on. That’s not quite right.

However, the votes for the BritMums Brilliance in Blogging Awards 2016 have been counted and verified, and the shortlists for each of the 12 awards have been published.

And I’m included in one of them!

I am one of ten bloggers shortlisted for the Readers’ Choice award. Thank you so much to everyone who voted to help me get this far – every single nomination counts and is really appreciated. But now I need your support one more time as now there is one final round of public voting.

So what is Readers’ Choice? Here’s how BritMums defines this new category:

Sometimes there are blogs that don’t fit into any one category but we simply adore them. For the first time the BiBs have introduced a Readers’ Choice category, perfect for those blogs that are among our favourites but defy categorisation.

Why me?

That description fits me to a ‘T’, really. I produce a wide range of content, broader than most, certainly. I write about my experiences as a dad (both funny and serious) but I also write and perform parody songs, I host the collaborative weekly Meet the Parents podcast, I create spoof radio adverts and I even write blogging tips.

I’m a bit different from your average parent blogger. I’m quite proud of that.

Want some examples? Here you go:

10 things teachers say – and what they actually mean

A few thoughts on grief and legacy

A parenting blogger parody: iPhone

Spoof parenting adverts: Blogger awards season, Frozen and the alternative Night Garden

7 myths (and a few truths) about the Tots100 rankings

What now?

I’m genuinely flabbergasted – isn’t that such a great word? We should use it more often – to have been shortlisted. Even so, I’m not going to lie: I would dearly love to still be standing when the shortlist of ten becomes the final five.

Voting for the finalists is now open, so if you think I’m worth it (tosses head back in slow motion, L’Oreal advert style) click here (or on the badge below) and exercise your democratic right. And share the love too – vote for all your other favourite bloggers in as many of the other categories as you can too.

BritMums

The polls close at midnight on Wednesday 18th May, so don’t delay.

You can also nominate me for one of the keynote speaker slots that close the conference. If you’d like to hear me reading one of my best posts out loud, here are a couple of suggestions – you can nominate here:

My post about the joys and challenges of being a dad blogger in a mum’s world: 5 reasons it’s tough being a dad blogger (and 5 reasons it’s great).

Or, if you fancy something a little more musical that challenges gender stereotypes, A gender stereotype parody: Pretty in Pink.

In either case, the post would fit best in the ‘Think’ category.
