My Sunday Photo: Sights and sounds in Chinatown

As is traditional at this time of the year – namely, Chinese New Year – we ventured in to London to have lunch with my family in Chinatown.

It was a chilly, grey and occasionally wet Saturday, but there’s nothing quite like a stroll through Chinatown to lift the spirits on even the most wintry of days.

Whether it’s the garish red lanterns that are hung all over the streets of Chinatown or the colour and noise that accompany the lion dances that are performed by Chinese dance troupes around the area’s various business premises, the kids love it.

The boys are quite the experts now when it comes to understanding the various New Year traditions. And the fact we always go for a slap-up dim sum lunch first is just a happy bonus. A good day.
