My Sunday Photo: A girl on a mission

If I had to sum up Kara in one word, it would be ‘purposeful’.

She’s decisive. She’s commanding. And once she’s set her mind on a course of action, she’s like a girl on a mission. Woe betide anyone who stands in her way: other children, brothers, even parents.

As with adults, you can tell a lot about a child by their body language. Isaac’s is cautious: he’s the type whose typical reaction to a new situation is to take a step back and take stock of what’s going on. Toby is passive bordering on apathetic: his first reaction is frequently to sit still and have no strong reaction at all.

Kara, though, is very much a front-foot individual: positive, confident, fearless. Some of that is down to her age. At 3½ fear is something that’s still off her radar. And yet she’s definitely more willing than the boys were at a similar age to throw herself into a situation and just see what happens. It probably helps being the youngest of three, with two older brothers to observe and imitate. But I hope she continues to be confident and forthright as she grows older, and to always be that girl who just goes out and gets whats she wants.

I’m certainly not going to stand in the way of our girl on a mission!
