My Sunday Photo: Three’s (not) a crowd

Two’s company, three’s a crowd, right? Not in the case of our three children – at least not at the moment, anyway.

Through luck rather than design, our three kids appeared at roughly two-year intervals. Our oldest (Isaac) and youngest (Kara) are separated by four years and five months. They’re close enough in age that Kara can hold her own with the two boys, while Isaac still has plenty in common with his little sister.

There is enough of an overlap in their interests that they will share some toys and games together, as well as enjoying some of the same TV programmes – I’ve written previously about how they all adore the new Thunderbirds Are Go series, for instance.

They even all go to bed at the same time, which means that they can also share the same bath-time – something they actively enjoy, as you can see from this picture.

I’m acutely aware that we’re currently in a golden period where all three of them are happy to do things as a trio without question, such as jump in to the bath naked together. Isaac’s just starting to show the first signs of self-consciousness, so this period may well come to an end sooner rather than later. Best we enjoy it while we can before three really does become a crowd.
