One of the joys of blogging is reading about other parents who have gone through (or are going through) similar experiences.
Sometimes it’s good to view a familiar situation through a different pair of eyes. At other times, it’s possible to offer some advice or at least share prior experience, having been there and done that ourselves.
The two bloggers I’ve picked out this week both talk about moments in parenthood that many of us are familiar with: wrestling with the decision whether or not to have another child, and giving our kids experiences which stir happy childhood memories.

Her post The second child conundrum: When mummy wants a no. 2 but daddy’s not so sure is an honest appraisal of the uncertainty that surrounds one of the biggest and most responsible decisions we ever have to make as parents.
We faced a similar dilemma when deciding whether to try for a third child. Ultimately we’re delighted that we did. However, hindsight is a wonderful thing and it was something we discussed on and off for months before finally agreeing to give it a try.

My boy’s FA Cup adventure – Single Married Parent Dad
Ian is a remarried widower – hence the amended name of his blog – and father to his son Max.
In My boy’s FA Cup adventure, he recalls how some of his earliest memories of watching football on TV were Wembley FA Cup finals, at a time when this was still the domestic sport’s showcase event and a rare match that was televised live. He shares his delight at his son’s first taste of watching football in the flesh, last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final at the new Wembley Stadium between Arsenal and Aston Villa.
I can relate to that. The excitement of FA Cup final day is a searing memory of my own childhood. An entire day of football-related TV programming used to be given over to it – something I’m delighted the BBC are reviving for Cup final day this year – and it was a huge event in a young sport’s fan’s life. I hope to be able to pass that sense of wonderment on to my children too.
