We don’t have a particularly large extended family in the UK – most of my relatives are in Malaysia, while Heather’s dad’s family are in Australia – but all three of our children are close to my parents, who they typically see at least two weekends a month.

While Isaac and Kara are both expressive emotionally, Toby is generally much more reticent. But put him with his Grandpa and a completely different side of him emerges. There are times when it’s impossible to tell what he’s feeling – but sometimes it’s unmissable. This was one such occasion, and the strong bond of love between the two is entirely mutual.
