I’ve been blogging this week about my six-day stint as a single dad while Heather has been away with work in South Africa.
I had some welcome support from my parents for the first 1½ days but I flew solo thereafter. And while it was great to have some help up front, I actively enjoyed rolling my sleeves up and coping on my own for the rest of the week.
Even though there were plenty of little things I forgot and got wrong, no one appears to have been emotionally scarred by their Mummy-less week, as this spontaneous selfie of Kara and I at bedtime on our final night shows.
I’m glad Heather’s back now but there was also a tinge of sadness that this little domestic adventure has come to an end. I don’t think I could cope with being a full-time single parent – I take my hat off to those who are – but six days was just about perfect and I’m glad I’ve got this little reminder that my little girl had a good time too.
