There are some days when I remember exactly why we were so keen to have children in the first place.

Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of times when our kids get on about as well as a male chauvinist and a feminist at a speed-dating event but on the whole we’re fortunate to have a trio who are mostly happy in each other’s company and provide themselves – and Heather and I – with a constant source of entertainment and fun.

It was Toby’s fifth birthday party last Sunday. I’m not sure exactly what Isaac was finding so funny at this particular moment but it was obviously worth a good guffaw!
