Looks like he’s concentrating very hard! Who was he playing?

Me! At that point he was extra determined because he had lost two games!

We make an effort to try to get the kids engaged with classic games, even though we’re very much a digital household. There’s something reassuring about picking up physical pieces rather than always swiping a touchscreen.

I used to have that! One of the only games I could beat my brothers at!

He’s played it a couple of times before but he’s just starting to show an interest in it. I imagine we’ll be playing it a lot over the Xmas hols!

We love playing classic games, and my girl is just getting into them. Although I’ve never seen a game so large! I hope he won at game … on merit!

Having won three in a row, I did let him win eventually but only after I’d done some coaching with him to help him make some good decisions during the game, rather than just blindly letting him win.

Love the intense concentration! Is this classic Isaac? All the other kids doing sport and running around while he concentrates and puts his brain to the test?

Very much so. He loves to run around and play but he doesn’t have much interest in football so he was much happier doing something a bit more cerebral with me. When he concentrates like that he can completely shut the world out.

We love connect 4. Unfortunately, I’ve taught my children too well and now they can beat me.

He looks very determined to win! I was always pretty rubbish at this game, I’m no good at thinking ahead about the possibilities.
