Big brother, little sister

Reading lessons

I’ve written frequently over the last couple of years about the dynamics between our three kids: Isaac (six), Toby (four) and Kara (nearly two). They are constantly shifting but, as I noted a few weeks ago, the one constant seems to be the bond between oldest and youngest.

There are plenty of times when I wonder what it is we’ve done wrong as parents. Isaac and Kara’s early morning waking habits. Toby’s tendency to actively avoid acts of affection (both giving and receiving). Any of the three having an enormous public meltdown. And then every now and then I’ll flick through the photos on my phone and I’m reminded that we’ve managed to get a fair amount right too. I hope Isaac and Kara will always be this close.
