Whatever happened to The Apprentice winners?: Simon Ambrose

A short series revisiting the previous Apprentice winners.

Won: Season three (2007), beating Kristina Grimes in the final, where their task was to design money-making buildings to be sited on London’s South Bank. Ambrose is perhaps best remembered for his attempts at breakdancing during an earlier task to advertise a new brand of ‘street’ trainers.

Pre-Apprentice: Simon is the son of Russell Ambrose, founder and owner of laser eye surgery chain Optimax. He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge with a BA in Economics and worked for Credit Suisse before running his own Internet shopping business.

Post-Apprentice: Ambrose worked for Lord Sugar’s property company Amsprop for three years, where he trained as a surveyor and was reportedly in charge of developing a hotel and golf course near Stansted Airport. He also relaunched the amsprop.com website.

Post-Sugar: It was announced in April 2010 that Ambrose was leaving Amsprop to set up his own property development firm. He is also now the Chairman of the London Contemporary Orchestra.
